1 Corinthians 8:1-3

Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that “We all possess knowledge.” But knowledge puffs up while love builds up. Those who think they know something do not yet know as they ought to know. But whoever loves God is known by God.

The apostle Paul reminds us that in the midst of great faith, it is good to have a little self-doubt. As great as proper theology is, if that theology is not anchored in a deep love for God, all that will happen is the student will think more highly of himself than he ought to. So the goal of our instruction is not knowledge, but love from a pure heart.  ~ Dave Whitehead, Senior Pastor, GraceNYC.org
