Proverbs 8:12

“I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion.”

There is a general fascination in popular media with people who live reckless lives. This proverb tells us that this is not wisdom. Wisdom lives with prudence, or the ability to live in a disciplined way. The fruit of discipline is that we not only gain knowledge, but we also gain the ability to know how to apply knowledge in certain situations. Wisdom does not simply react to life haphazardly; wisdom constantly restrains our responses in a way that ultimately blesses us and glorifies our Father in heaven.  ~ Dave Whitehead, Senior Pastor, GraceNYC.org
