There is a general fascination in popular media with people who live reckless lives. This proverb tells us that this is not wisdom. Wisdom lives with prudence, or the ability to live in a disciplined way. The fruit of discipline is that we not only gain knowledge, but we also gain the ability to know how to apply knowledge in certain situations.
