1 Peter 2:1-3

Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.

Peter gives us some helpful insight on how to change. Don’t dwell on mistakes that you’ve made in your past. Instead, look toward God’s word and the hope of the gospel in order to grow. In other words, you won’t stop lying by telling yourself, “Don’t lie.” You stop lying by focusing on telling the truth. It is God’s goodness that changes us as we focus upon Him.  ~ Dave Whitehead, Senior Pastor, GraceNYC.org
