Ezekiel 3:3-4

Then he said to me, “Son of man, eat this scroll I am giving you and fill your stomach with it.” So I ate it, and it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth. He then said to me: “Son of man, go now to the people of Israel and speak my words to them.

When Ezekiel began his prophetic ministry, God gave him a vision of eating a scroll, then going to the people to speak to them. In this context Ezekiel has a hard road ahead of him, but the words of grieving are not bitter—they are sweet. This is a stunning picture of godly obedience. The man or woman gripped by God sees even difficult tasks as pleasant to the soul, for these people are not living for the approval of others—they rejoice in obeying God.  ~ Dave Whitehead, Senior Pastor, GraceNYC.org
