Nehemiah 6:2

Sanballat and Geshem sent me this message: “Come, let us meet together in one of the villages on the plain of Ono.” But they were scheming to harm me; so I sent messengers to them with this reply: “I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and go down to you?”

Sanballat and Geshem were trying to stop Nehemiah from building the wall around Jerusalem, but Nehemiah would not let them keep him from his task—he kept the main thing the main thing. Take a moment and ask yourself what is the most important thing that you can do today, and don’t let surrounding voices distract you from the projects that are worth pursuing. Don’t allow the fear of others cause you to miss out on what God has entrusted you to do.  ~ Dave Whitehead, Senior Pastor, GraceNYC.org
