For many will come in my name, claiming, \u2018I am the Messiah,\u2019 and will deceive many.<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Taught during the last week of His life, Jesus was giving His followers some strong boundaries so that they would not fall away after He was gone. Here he talks of people who say that they are the Christ (\u201canointed one\u201d). Notice the word that Jesus uses \u2013 deceive. To be deceived is to not know the difference between the truth and a falsehood \u2013 they both look the same. In a time when many are saying, \u201cI am God\u2019s anointed now.\u201d, Jesus explicitly tells us that God\u2019s anointed One is found in only one place \u2013 Jesus the Christ.
