These books describe the creation of the world,\u00a0 God&#8217;s call to the Hebrews (1) to be His special people, their captivity and release (2) from Egypt, the law (3) that guided them on their way to the Promised Land (4) and how God blessed the people when they obeyed and disciplined them when they disobeyed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a class=\"wp-oembed\" title=\"Books of History\" href=\"http:\/\/iowawebnet.com\/havefaith\/?page_id=72\" target=\"_self\">Books of History<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Joshua<\/em><\/strong> + <strong><em>Judges<\/em><\/strong> + <strong><em>Ruth<\/em><\/strong> + <strong><em>1 Samuel<\/em><\/strong> + <strong><em>2 Samuel<\/em><\/strong> + <strong><em>1 Kings<\/em><\/strong> + <strong><em>2 Kings<\/em><\/strong> + <strong><em>1 Chronicles<\/em><\/strong> + <strong><em>2 Chronicles<\/em><\/strong> + <strong><em>Ezra<\/em><\/strong> + <strong><em>Nehemiah<\/em><\/strong> + <strong><em>Ester<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>God brought His chosen people (1) into the Promised Land with miracles, military victories and treaties.\u00a0 Then God allowed the Israelites a brief measure of earthly glory (2) in the reigns of David and Solomon.\u00a0 To King David, God promised an everlasting kingdom.\u00a0 However, the Davidic dynasty split.\u00a0 Assyrians (3) erased the Northern Kingdom (722 b.c) and Babylonians (4) conquered the Southern Kingdom (605-586 b.c.). Eventually, the Persians allowed the Jewish People to resettle Palestine and rebuild the Jerusalem Temple.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a class=\"wp-oembed\" title=\"Bookd of Poetry\" href=\"http:\/\/iowawebnet.com\/havefaith\/?page_id=75\" target=\"_self\">Books of Peotry<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Job<\/strong><\/em> + <strong><em>Psalms<\/em><\/strong> +<em><strong> Proverbs<\/strong><\/em> + <em><strong>Ecclesiaste<\/strong><\/em>s + <em><strong>Song of Solomon<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Biblical poetry teaches that true worship and wisdom can only come from appropriate fear and affection for God.\u00a0 Coming in the form of a cosmic struggle between the Lord and His angelic enemies (Job) (1), the full range of emotions in verse (Psalms) (2), a father&#8217;s and mother&#8217;s wisdom sayings to their son (Proverbs), musings about the human condition (Ecclesiates) (3), and the love song of a bride and groom (Song of Solomon), the books of poetry also teach us how to anticipate a hopeful end to history through the coming of the Messiah.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a class=\"wp-oembed\" title=\"Books of Major Prophets\" href=\"http:\/\/iowawebnet.com\/havefaith\/?page_id=79\" target=\"_self\">Books of Major Prophets<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Isaah<\/em><\/strong> + <strong><em>Jeremiah<\/em><\/strong> + <strong><em>Lamentations<\/em><\/strong> + <em><strong>Ezekei<\/strong><\/em> + <em><strong>Daniel<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The major prophets wrote from the eighth to the sixth centuries before Christ, as nations were rising and failing (1) around Izrael, and idolatry (2) and injustice were endemic in Izrael.\u00a0 The major prophets teach us that God has a plan for history and that through the coming Messiah He will eventually subdue all His enemies under His feet and bring peace (3) to the Earth.\u00a0 The major prophets also vividly teach us that God is deeply concerned with moral integrity and justice in our daily lives.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a class=\"wp-oembed\" title=\"Books of Minor Prophets\" href=\"http:\/\/iowawebnet.com\/havefaith\/?page_id=87\" target=\"_self\">Books of Minor prophets<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Hosea<\/strong><\/em> +<strong><em> Joel<\/em><\/strong> + <em><strong>Amos<\/strong><\/em> + <em><strong>Obadiah<\/strong><\/em> + <em><strong>Jonah<\/strong><\/em> + <em><strong>Micah<\/strong><\/em> + <em><strong>Nahum<\/strong><\/em> + <em><strong>Habakkuk<\/strong><\/em> + <em><strong>Zephaniah<\/strong><\/em> + <em><strong>Haggai<\/strong><\/em> + <em><strong>Zechariah<\/strong><\/em> + <em><strong>Malachi<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>By the time most of the minor prophets were writing (1) (the seventh to the fifth centuries before Christ), the promise God had made to David of an everlasting kingdom was already at least 300 years old.\u00a0 These prophets foresaw tremendous destruction (2) and sorrow for God&#8217;s chosen people and for nations that would not humble themselves before God.\u00a0 Even so, they had faith that God would make good on His promises and send a Deliver (3) for HIs people and for those nations who would bow before him.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"ylb-container\" style=\"background-color:E6E6E6\">\n                   <a href=\"#\" class=\"ylb-close\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/iowawebnet.com\/havefaith\/wp-content\/plugins\/mtx-license-plugin\/images\/close-icon.png\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t   <p><div style=\"background-color: #F8F8F8; color: #3B5D9B; font-style: italic;  font-size: 10px;\">\r\n<fieldset style=\"border: #FFF dotted 1px;\" >\r\n<legend><strong>Iowa Web Network<\/strong><\/legend>\r\n<span style=\"padding-left: 15px;\">This article is subject to Creative Common License.
